Polyethylene microspheres are hydrophobic and suspend easily in oil-based solutions. They can also be suspended in aqueous solution if coated with a surfactant prior to suspending in water. We recommend using Tween 80 or Tween 20 Surfactants.

Microspheres are supplied in dry powder form and are color stable in solution. No solvents are used in the manufacturing process. Polyethylene is inert to most solvents.

We are interested in this product: YPMS-1.00 5-20um - 0.1g Yellow Polyethylene Microspheres 1.00g/cc 5-20um - 0.1g because we want to model sperm, which are negatively charged and up to 5 micron head size. So these neutral buoyancy spheres would seem to be very good for this application, except the size range is from 5 to 20 um. Would you be able to provide these spheres in a size range of around 4-5 micron? Alternatively, do you have a product that is neutrally-buoyant, with a negative charge and 5 micron size?
Answers:
The YPMS product line has the strongest negative charge of our products and has the best 1.00g/cc neutral buoyancy. Unfortunately the 5-20um size range is the smallest we offer. There will be very few 5um particles in this size range as it is the particles are distributed across the range, and it is the smallest size produced.
